Brothers and Sisters, I am very proud of all of you for standing together throughout this historic FLSA case. I am proud that the Union was able to win the $55 million settlement with IHS, which shows the continued value and necessity of unions. There is simply no way that any individual worker could have achieved such a victory on his/her own. Indeed, without such a joint effort, many of the dedicated and committed public employees who will benefit from this agreement might not even have known that they were entitled to overtime pay that they did not receive. The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) stood by you in this fight, and now that we have won, we will work with you to make this settlement process as smooth and efficient as possible. Congratulations again, and keep fighting the good fight.

Brothers and sisters, I am awed and inspired by the hard work and persistence of all those who fought to recover the overtime pay many of you were wrongfully denied for many years. The $55-million Settlement Agreement between the Indian Health Service (IHS) and the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) was historic in its size and scope. LIUNA has been proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with all of you in this important fight for justice, just as we are deeply proud to represent so many of the dedicated public employees in the IHS.
